Mr. Shitangshu Kumar Sur Chowdhury was appointed as the Deputy Governor of Bangladesh Bank, central bank of the country on 23 January 2012. Prior to his appointment he was serving in the bank as executive Director. He worked and managed all clusters of central banking i.e Banking Regulations and Supervisions, Reserve Management, Monetary Policy and operations.

He started his career as an Assistant Director. He has been serving in the central bank for more than thirty years and subsequently elevated to this current position.

Mr. Chowdhury obtained his masters degree in English from the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh and MBA in Finance and Accounting. He is a diplomaed associate of Institute of Bangladesh (IBB). He stood first in the 2nd part banking diploma examination and been awarded with Bangladesh Bank gold medal.

He has participated many conference, seminar and workshop in country and abroad. During his long career he has visited many countries including U.K., Canada, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, China & India, Germany and Switzerland for official purpose.
